2009
Ok, we are still new to this - this is our first year. I've been listening to everyone, and making notes....
I've started buying in my breeding pairs and trios for next years stocks.
An idea of what we'll be hatching from October onwards... mainly to sell as POL next year
Well, not surprisingly bantams seem to be more the thing - perhaps as so many of us are realising just how much fun chickens are, but being restricted by space.
This is Samson and Za Za, our new Polish Bantams - looking particularly camera shy. These are amazing little birds, possibly the tamest I've come across - supposedly because they have restricted vision it makes them less alert. Za Za spots human feet in the garden and rushes over to them waiting to be picked up. She'll hold tight to your fingers with her amazing blue fingers and happily perch on you.
For next year, I'll be selling the following
Polish Bantams in Gold laced, silver laced - anything really
Polish Bantams, black with white heads (my personal favorites)
Pekin Bantams in buff, partridge, wyandotte, black and white
Wyandotte Bantams
Hopefully loads of bantam hybrids - mainly bantam cockerel x warrens (my recharged bats)
Of the large fowl I'll be hatching the following
Speckled and Light Sussex
Orpingtons - Jubilee, Buff etc.
Wyandottes, blue and silver laced + others
Welsummers
Jersey Giants (Ok, I'm trying to get some eggs to hatch but we'll see how this goes)
Araucana
Marans
Plus loads of hybrids for POL and general farm yard poultry
If there is anything you want in particular, let me know and I can hatch eggs for you and rear until you're ready!
Quack Quack...
